During the last months I did some research. I talked to quite a lot of kitesurfers and tried to find out which things might spoil their fun and enjoyment for kitesurfing. Of course there are negative factors like broken equipment or even accidents … but these should not be part of this article – cause the funny thing is, that most of the kiters I talked to did not mention such “big” factors as their primary annoyance! In 99 percent of the cases people mentioned other kitesurfers and their strange behaviour as the most irritating thing. And so that’s what this new series is about and why I call it “annoying kitesurf characters”.
If you talk to other kitesurfers about women who kite, the rumour persists that most of them started to kitesurf mainly cause their boyfriend or husband does. What else? Hm …
I did a poll that shows if it’s the truth or just a myth. Also I asked some female riders to tell me all about their very own kite beginnings.
Although kiteboarders enjoy their sports and lifestyle, one should not believe that it’s always super fun to be a kite addict. Kitesurfers have their very own bunch of specific problems – and they are not always easy to handle! The following points will not all affect every kiter out there … but I am sure that lots of readers will find theirselves in one or more of the described situations.
It don’t need many letters to describe our latest trip to Africa – cause I think this video shows so much more impressions than words can ever give. Just to note: It was awesome, breathtaking and unforgettable – and to be honest, I immediately want to go back!

Kitesurfing in Kenya – Watamu 2017
What’s the main reason we are addicted to kitesurfing? To speak in behalf of most kiters, the answer is very simple: Because it’s fun! But nearly everyone who spent some time kiting already may have experienced days on the water that have been … let’s call it modest. Wether you see no progress anymore, you are totally stuck with a trick which makes you angry, you can’t cope with the conditions or you even get bored of kitesurfing … sometimes it’s like that.
